Kosovska Mitrovica, 30 August: This evening at about 1800 [1600 gmt] in Zabare near Kosovska Mitrovica, a group of [ethnic] Albanians stoned one of the four Kosmet prevoz [transport company] buses carrying 300 Serb schoolchildren returning from their summer holiday in Baosici [in Montenegro].
The head of the group of primary schoolchildren, Sasa Ristanovic, who was in the bus that was stoned, informed the Coordination Centre [for Kosovo-Metohija] that a group of Albanians pelted the bus with stones smashing one of the windows, however, none of the primary schoolchildren were injured.
The disturbing thing was that only one Kosovo Police Service vehicle was escorting the four buses carrying the schoolchildren and the police did not even try to apprehend the attackers. Kosovo police members only looked at the damaged bus and ordered it to continue on its way.
